Gabriola Island is a Gulf Island in the Strait of Georgia, 5 kilometres east of Nanaimo. In 2019, Emcon Services Inc., a local road maintenance company, donated eight-acres of forested land to Gabriola Housing Society. This land is well located for an affordable housing project and is next to Gabriola Island’s commercial village directly across from the Gabriola Commons. The planned 24-unit townhouse complex will leave as much of the forest in place as possible and will build 8 triplexes spread out over 2 acres of the 5-acre property. Upon completion, Paisley Place will prioritize those who currently live or work on Gabriola and registered members of Snuneymuxw First Nation.
