Rent Geared to Income: 60; Moderate Income: 140
Brightside is redeveloping an aging, 21-unit apartment building to provide significantly more affordable homes to the community. Brightside acquired the apartment building in 2005, which is currently tenanted to mainly seniors, but the aging building lacks basic accessibility features such as an elevator and needs replacement. The redevelopment is a 21-storey high-rise tower with a low carbon design and climate resiliency features such as air conditioning and air filtration in the event of wildfires. It also meets the Rick Hansen standard target for accessibility throughout the building. Located a five-minute walk from the future Broadway SkyTrain station, the development will include retail and office space for non-profit organizations and aligns with the Broadway Plan objectives. Brightside purchased the adjacent single-family home to increase the project footprint to support a better building design and increase the number of homes.
