Surrey has a strong need for long-term care for seniors that is culturally appropriate. In response, PICS Society is developing Guru Nanak Diversity Village to provide care for South Asian seniors. It is named after Guru Nanak, a highly respected religious and political reformer in the 15th century. The facility will provide culturally-sensitive care to South Asian seniors and will hire staff who are able to communicate in residents’ mother tongue. PICS Society is the largest non-profit in Canada serving the South Asian community since 1987.
