Salsbury Community Society developed Co:Here on a parking lot owned by Grandview Calvary Baptist Church located on 1st Avenue East and Victoria Drive. This project sought to break new ground in defining what “social housing” could look like by fostering an intentional community of support. The main level contains a large kitchen, dining room, living room and meditation space for residents. A courtyard and community garden also provide outdoor space. Co:Here residents come from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and move in with an understanding and desire to build community. The residents are committed to participating and collective decision-making in community life. The success of this development led to the development of Wayfinder Developments to provide consulting services to faith-based organizations seeking to unlock the latent affordable housing potential in their land asset.
